Homework for the next two weeks!!
I am leaving today for a week long vacation with my family. Linda Dykstra (new speech/debate teacher for next year) will be covering for the class on the 4th. We will still have a quiz (as usual). She will collect the homework and there will be videos for both classes. Middle School will also spend time with magnets and circuits. We spent the time going over the Study Guide from Module #11, note taking (finished up module #11 and began #12), and experimented with charges.
Monday: Read pages 289-294. Complete On Your Owns 12.1-12.3
Tuesday: Give me one example of a directly proportional relationship and indirectly proportional relationship. [Examples I gave in class: Direct= the more you eat the more you weigh; Indirect= the more you excersise the less you weigh]
Wednesday: Read pages 295-305. Complete On Your Own 12.4-12.6
Thursday: Read pages 306-312. Complete On Your Own 12.7-12.10. Quiz over notes taken on Module #12

We started the time with an exciting microscope quiz. Then we spent time notetaking over module 11. We made wet mounts of sponges and observed them under the microscope along with some other prepared specimens.

Force and Mold
PHYSICAL SCIENCE:MIDDLE SCHOOL
We spent time introducing Module #11 The four forces of nature. We were able to complete 2 different experiments demonstrating gravity and friction. We will continue to dive into this fascinating module next week.
Monday: try On Your Own 11.1 and 11.2 again on pg. 264
Tuesday: Read 261-269 again and complete On Your Own 11.3 & 11.4
Wednesday: Read 269-276 and complete On Your Own 11.5 & 11.8

We were able to wet mount some cool samples of mold brought in. Shelby's lemon had some great mold to view!! We reviewed some of Module #3 and started into Module #4.
Monday: Make a chart like we did in class with Kingdom Fungi. List an example in each phylum/class
Tuesday/Wednesday: Research the "Great Potato famine". I would like you to write a two page paper on this describing the mold that caused this. How it was spread and what we do now to prevent it from happening again. Please include much more than this. Double spaced.

Tornadoes and Mold
MIDDLE SCHOOL:PHYSICAL SCIENCE
Tests were handed back so make sure you take a look at these! We spent the majority of our time analyzing our weather reports. This was a brief glimpse of the job of a meteorologist. We finished notes on module #8 and completed a tornado lab.
MON: Finish your weather report if you haven't already.
TUES/WED: Paper- Tornadoes I would like you to write a one page double spaced paper on tornadoes. Research what causes them, how fast they are, where is their most popular locations, etc. There are also some really cool videos on you tube (heads up the language is questionable on some videos).
THURS: Study for a quiz on Module #8.
HIGH SCHOOL:BIOLOGY
Tests were also returned in Biology. Please take time to review them. We spent the entire class with the microscopes. We were able to observe specimens from SubKingdom Protozoa and Kindgom Fungi.
MON: Start growing mold. I will not provide any more info. please research how to grow mold if necessary. Bring your specimen in on Friday
