pedigrees & hydrologic cycle

Thanksgiving homework-I told the kids I would still only give a week worth of homework and they could complete this week or the next.

MIDDLE SCHOOL
I broke the kids up into groups of two and they developed a poster for the hydrologic cycle emphasizing the four key concepts: precipitation, transpiration, condensation, and evaporation. They will be displayed for the Open House on Tuesday and there will be open voting for the best poster. I hope to see you all there! We then delved into Module #6 and completed a lab on electromagnets!

Monday: Complete Experiment 6.1 & 6.2. Fill in the lab forms I sent home with you.
Tuesday: Read pgs. 131-136. Complete On Your Owns 6.1-6.3
Wednesday: Read pgs. 137-152. Complete On Your Owns 6.4-6.10
Thursday:Complete Study Guide pg. 155 1-24

HIGH SCHOOL
We spent time discussing genetics. Pedigree, sex-linked traits were the primary focus of our discussion. We started an interesting lab on how we inherit our traits and also a discussion of the history of the sex-linked trait hemophilia through the royal family in the 18 & 19 hundreds.

Monday: Complete the worksheet Hemophilia: "The Royal Disease"
Tuesday & Wednesday: Complete the lab how do we inherit our biological characteristics (stop at Part III on pg 139). Construct a pedigree of one particular trait through your family. Remember prize for the largest pedigree! Use Thanksgiving wisely:)
Thursday: Read pgs. 37-55. Complete On Your Owns 2.1-2.13

Happy Thanksgiving!!!
